Peace and Reconciliation Week
This week the whole school have been focusing on the theme of 'Peace and Reconciliation'. They have learnt about how important peace is, the valuable contribution of women to the war effort and the soldiers who risked their lives (so that peace was restored). The books used to support these themes were: What does Peace fell Like? by V. Radinsky; Where the poppies Now Grow by Hilary Robinson and Martin Impey; and Peace Lily by Hilary Robinson and Martin Impey.
The children have also understood why we wear poppies as a reminder of these brave soldiers.
To mark the centenary of the end of WWI every child from Nursery to year 6 made a poppy which has been incorporated into the whole school poppy memorial.
