Reading
In school, children have 3 reading sessions with the book that is sent home. This is broken down into 3 reading sessions where children all have the same book in the group to develop the following skills;
- Decoding (This is so they can say the sounds to read the words with support from the teacher)
- Prosidy (This is where they read it again, but have a go at adding meaning and expression)
- Comprehension (This is to develop understanding of what they have read)
Once these sessions are completed and taught by an adult, you will be allocated the reading book for your child to be able to show you those skills they are applying in their reading.
