50th Anniversary Celebrations
Mon 27 Jun 2016Last week we celebrated the school's 50th Anniversary, with a series of activities.
On Monday morning, we held a special assembly where past staff and governors attended to tell the children some stories about their time at Newdigate and how it had changed over the years. Children were also shown pictures of how the school used to look compared to now. After the assembly our visitors enjoyed a tour of the school as well as some refreshments and a slice of special cake!
All pupils also received a piece of special cake too. All week, each year group were given a specific decade to research in the school's history as part of their class work.
On Wednesday, all children took part in making a very special commemorative mosaic which will be displayed outside school very soon.
Finally on Friday afternoon, there was another assembly, where each class shared what they had learned about their given decade.
It was a wonderful week and keep your eye on the website as we will be adding more pictures as we can. Please feel free to pop in and have a look at the stunning display in the reception area of past photographs etc if you can too.

Girls Football Sucess
Fri 17 Jun 2016This week saw Newdigate take part in the BPSSA Girls Football tournament at Race Leys Junior School. Our team only started training together a couple of weeks ago with Miss Wright and Mr Vasey, who had the very tough job of choosing just 10 girls for the tournament team.
The girls lost their first game 2 - 0 to the eventual winners, Race Leys Panthers. They then beat Wheelwright Lane and St Michael's both 1-0. They came second in their group so played the runners up from the other group who were Race Leys Tigers and won that 1-0 too. So they won the runner-up playoff meaning they came a fabulous 3rd overall! An absolutely brilliant result for the girls. They all showed a fantastic attitude despite the poor weather and all the parents who came to watch were incredibly supportive too.
We are all very proud of you girls!

Trophy Assembly
Wed 08 Jun 2016This week we saw a tie for the house points trophy, with both Elmes & Lardner tying for top spot.
The winners for this week's attendance trophy, were 1/2R with 97.9%, RC close behind in 2nd place with 97.6% and 3V in third with 97.5%. Well done everyone in these classes!
Our overall school attendance has dropped slightly this week, our attendance target is set at 96% so we need to try a bit harder to bring this back up.
