Welcome to Year 3!
3B have had an excellent start to the year and have settled very well into Key Stage 2.
For the first two weeks of the Autumn term, we have been reading the book 'Weslandia,' which is about a little boy called Wesley who decides to make his own civilisation.
He invents lots of new things, and we have been inventing and experimenting, too!
In Maths, we have helped Wesley measure out the correct amount of ingredients in millilitres, and we made our own insect repellent.
In English, we thought about how Wesley was feeling, and we wrote diary entries pretending to be Wesley. We also designed our own game to play in Weslandia, and wrote instructions and rules for how to play it. (As well as testing out instructions for making our own paper aeroplanes!)
In Art and Design Technology, we have made weaving patterns out of strips different coloured paper. We then sewed these patterns onto our own felt bags that we made ourselves!
Then on Friday, we made our own alphabetic codes to decipher, and we had a 'Dragon's Den' afternoon, where we designed our own inventions to help Wesley in his civilisation.
We then presented our amazing ideas to the rest of the class.
- Light-up flower torches and fruit-squirting alarms were just some of our creative designs!
Miss Behan is so proud of the way that 3B have started the year, and is very pleased with all of their hard work and the fantastic projects that they have produced.
She is looking forward to starting our Stone Age topic next week!
