Friday 27th April

Writer of the week:

Kayleigh received Writer of the week for producing a fantastic newspaper report on the Princess' Blankets which included all the features of a newspaper and the literary features she has been taught in the classroom.

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Leoni for working extremely hard in maths and recalling key facts about fractions, percentages and decimals. She has been able to recognise equivalences and aid others on her table - using her place value knowledge to explain.

 

Reader of the week:

Jan has worked hard in guided reading sessions, where he has shown the capability to work independently and stay focused on the work. He has worked hard to gain 3/3 marks in questions, showing his resilience and persevering.

 

Helpful, kind and polite award of the week:

Ryan has received this award for his manners in the classroom and around the school. The teaching staff often comment on his polite mannerisms and his kind nature to those around him. He has matured over the 2 years I've known him. Well done!

Friday 16th March

Writer of the week:

Teigan received Writer of the Week for working hard in creating a poem with a range of descriptive and figurative language. She listened to her feedback to include an oxymoron within her writing. Well done!

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Lola for working hard towards her place value and number knowledge. She has been working on counting in powers of 10 and is able to recognise the sequence by applying her place value knowledge.

 

Reader of the week:

Tabitha has received this award for working extremely hard in her guided reading sessions on her inference skills. She reads on a daily basis and is a role model to her peers.

 

Helpful, kind and polite award of the week:

Millie has received this award for helping around the classroom and being a friendly member of the Year 6 classroom.

Friday 9th February

Writer of the week:

Elliot received this award for listening to his feedback within literacy lessons and asking on how he can make improvements independently showing he is taking an ownership of his learning. Well done!

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Rhys for working hard towards on his co-ordinates knowledge. He listened to feedback: noting co-ordinates for each vertex of each shape and continued to translate and reflect shapes accurately.

 

Reader of the week:

Libby has been awarded with Reader of the week for being enthusiastic within her guided reading sessions which has allowed for great discussion.

 

Helpful, kind and polite award of the week:

Libby has also received this award for being friendly a bubbly character of the class. She asks members of staff if she can be helpful at break and lunch times which is always appreciated.

Friday 26th January

Writer of the week:

Hermione received the award for writer of the week. She produced a descriptive diary entry about Lady Macbeth's reactions of the prophecies which her husband - Macbeth - explained to her over a letter. She included higher level punctuation and thought carefully about the emotive language she would include. Very impressive!

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Jan for working hard towards his angles work. He has been calculating, measuring and drawing accurately and has taken on feedback from teachers and other teaching staff. Keep up the hard work!

 

Reader of the week:

Blake has made real effort in his guided reading sessions. The staff in Year 6 are thoroughly pleased at Blake's participation in lessons and his well-thought responses to questions. Well done!

 

Helpful, kind and polite award of the week:

Thomas has received this award for always have a positive attitude towards his work and working extremely hard in Year 6. His smile lights up the classroom! Keep smiling and working hard.

Friday 8th December

Writer of the week:

Lucy has received the award for writer of the week. She produced a biography about William Shakespeare and presented facts in chronological order with a range of punctuation including sem-colons. Lucy has also began using passive verb within her writing. Very impressive!

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Abi for working hard towards her Algebra work. She used mental strategies to solve algebraic equations and showed clear step-by-step method to aid her calculations. Keep up the hard work!  

 

Reader of the week:

Tia has made  real effort in her reading over the past term. She makes a conscious effort to read at home and her expression and tone has vastly improved when reading. The staff in year 6 are thoroughly pleased with her hard work towards fact retrieval.

Faith has received this award for always have a positive attitude towards her work and helping her peers during lesson time. She has a bubbly personality and members around the school always comment on this. Well done!

Friday 24th November

Writer of the week:

Kayleigh received the award for Writer of the week for working extremely hard in her planning for her narrative. She listened to the expectations and wrote to length.

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Sam for receiving Mathematician of the week. He worked extremely hard in his rounding decimals and this allowed him to move to ordering decimals.

 

Reader of the week:

Kayne was chosen as reader of the week for his use of Point, Evidence and Explanation within his work. Kayne has shown a great attitude towards his reading and this has reflected in lesson time. Keep up the hard work!

Faith has received this award for always have a positive attitude towards her work and helping her peers during lesson time. She has a bubbly personality and members around the school always comment on this. Well done!

Friday 10th November

Writer of the week:

Chris received the award for Writer of the week for completing a well-presented science investigation. He completed a piece of writing including clear subheadings, a table of results and a good length of work.

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Myah who has worked extremely hard in her maths lessons. She has shown a great attitude towards her maths work, and shows perseverance is key. Well done!

 

Reader of the week:

Jorja  was chosen as reader of the week for her use of Point, Evidence and Explanation within her work. Jorja has showed resilience and the ability to adapt to the questions given to her. She has listened well to her feedback and responds accordingly.

 

Helpful, kind and polite award of the week:

Abi has received this award for consistently being a great role model to her peers and the rest of KS2. She always has a smile on her face and keeps the cheery spirit to Year 6!

Friday 13th October

Writer of the week:

Lui was writer of the week for his well written narrative poem. He included a range of figurative language and included key events and description. He listened to the feedback given and improved his work using a purple pen.

 

Mathematician of the week:

Brandon has worked on multiplication and division written methods. He has shown a good understanding of the methods and presented his work clearly and concisely. Great attitude towards your work, well done!

 

Reader of the week:

Lewis read his narrative poem to the class. He read fluently and held his book at a distance so that he could engage with his audience. Lewis's tone was constant throughout and when he was asked to re-read his poem whilst focusing on his tone, he was able to add character and meaning to the sound of his voice.

 

Helpful, kind and polite award of the week:

Lexi is always a kind and helpful individual of our classroom. She offers to help her peers on a regularly basis and is a bubbly character! The teaching staff appreciate her help around the classroom and I know Lexi has been a tremendous help as a Junior Leader.  

Friday 29th September

Writer of the week:

Lily wrote a diary entry related to our class book Treason. She included the correct structure, listened carefully to her instructions and included emotive language to show she understand the characters point of view. 

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Rhys who showed a new attitude towards his work - where he was focused and influenced his peers to also work hard. 

 

Reader of the week:

Leoni was chosen as reader of the week for working extremely hard on fact retrieval with Mrs Mosey, reading the questions carefully and aiding those around her. 

 

Helpful, kind and polite award of the week: 

Noraiz has been extremely helpful to his teacher and peers. He is polite and has even been smiling a lot more! Keep up the cheerful attitude, great start to this year!

Friday 16th September

Writer of the week:

Phinley received writer of the week for an impressive newspaper report with parenthesis, relative clauses and correct punctuation for inverted commas.

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Ryan who showed a great understanding of place value especially rounding. He put hard work and effort into his work and quickly adapted to learning a new method.

 

Reader of the week:

Libby was chosen as reader of the week for her use of Point, Evidence and Explanation within her work and applying these skills within her literacy lessons.

 

Helpful, kind and polite award of the week: 

Mitchell has deservedly received this award for a great start to the new academic year within the classroom. He has made great decisions and listened to adults. Well done!
