Celebration Assembly

8th December

 

Kind, helpful and polite:

Megan is always well behaved in class and is a good role model. She is really good at helping other children with their work or offering to sit with them to help them concentrate.   

 

Writer of the week: 

Superb story created by Leah called "The Lighthouse." Really good adjectives and descriptive language included to describe the setting. Paragraphs used to develop the story and plot. There is also a range of punctuation used.

 

Mathematician of the week: 

Great work on rounding from Tymon. Tymon used the number line and his knowledge of place value to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 ad 1000. His work was presented neatly too.

 

Reader of the week: 

Melissa has received this award for contributing in guided reading sessions. Melissa has been retrieving information from the text, but also making inferences about characters, giving examples and reasons from the text to support her opinion.

24th November:

Kind, helpful and polite:

Well done to Aaliyah. Aaliyah is always kind ad polite and is a good role model to the rest of the class. She comes in every lunch time and asks if there in anything she can do to help.   

 

Writer of the week: 

Well done to Morgan. Morgan worked really hard to write a recount of the last Battle of Macbeth. She used descriptive language, fronted adverbial and kept the events in chronological order. She also edited her work to make it even better.  

 

Mathematician of the week: 

Well done to Jake. Jake has worked really had on his fractions for the last 2 weeks he has found equivalent fractions, simplified fractions and converted between mixed numbers and improper fraction.

 

Reader of the week: 

Well done to Grace. Grace is reading her own books at have and reads regularly. she completes so many different reading activities to improve and her skills and is really pushing herself with her understanding of reading texts.

10th November:

 

kind, helpful and polite:

Well done to Iona. Iona shows fantastic behaviour around the classroom, school and playground. She always offers to help do jobs and sets a great example to the rest of key stage 2. It is a pleasure to have Iona in my class. 

 

Writer of of the week: 

Well done to Leon. Leon has yet again produced a fantastic piece of work around Macbeth. He shows a good understanding of the character and uses interesting vocabulary in order to explain Macbeth's thoughts and feelings. 

 

Mathematician of the week: 

Well done to Taylah. Taylah has shown good time knowledge this week. She has developed her understanding of 12 and 24 hour digital time and has used her knowledge to challenge herself with her work. 

 

Reader of of the week: 

Well done to Bobby. Bobby has really tried hard to participate within guided reading over the last 2 weeks. He also is beginning to use good, clear evidence from the text to support his answers. 

13th October 

Kind, helpful and polite:

Well done to Zak for showing fantastic behaviour in the classroom and around the school. It is also appreciated how much help Zak offers to undertake jobs around the classroom. Thank you Zak 

 

Mathematitian of the week 

Well done to Jake for showing fantastic multiplication knowledge. Jake is able to recall most of his times tables and is able to use the formal method of multiplication independently. 

 

Writer of the week:

Well done to Alexia for listening to advice in her literacy work and using this to uplevel what she has written. She has worked really hard to improve her descriptive 

language and punctuation. 

 

Reader of of the week: 

Well done to Popi for listening to strategies in order to retrieve information from a text. This has been reflected in her work where she now can answer information retrieval questions independently. 

29th September 

kind, helpful and polite:

Well done to Ashton.  Ashton really helps members of the class when they are finding their work difficult. He asks them questions and shows them how they can answer the question. 

 

Writer of of the week:

Well done to Leon. Leon has produced an amazing atmospheric poem this week about the Heath scene in Macbeth. He thought about the language used and the impact on the reader.  

 

Mathematitian of the week:

Well done to Aaliyah. Aaliyah has worked hard to improve her subtraction knowledge and has persevered when she has found something hard. 

 

Reader of of the week: 

Well done to Riley.  Riley has worked hard to use the text in order to find evidence to justify his opinion and is beginning to explain this evidence. 

 

!5th September

 

Kind, helpful and polite:

Well done to Kavan for having an excellent start to the year. Kavan shows consistently good behaviour around the school and is helpful to all member of the class. 

 

Writer of the week. 

Well done to Taylah for a great piece of descriptive writing about Jack and the Beanstalk. Taylah created a 'wanted' poster for Jack and included some high level descriptive language, expanded noun phrases and parenthesis. 

 

Reader of the week: 

Well done to Grace. When being tested on the Year 5/6 word list for the first time, Grace scored 97/100 without any help. Well done Grace. 

 

Mathematician of the week:

Well done to Stanley. Stanley has worked hard to improve his place value knowledge of 5 and 6 digit numbers. He then used this knowledge in order to add and subtract mentally.
